The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to call on Asue Igbodalo, to warn his supporters against disrupting tribunal proceedings.
Edo APC alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate was planning to use thugs loyal to him to invade the tribunal premise and disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the court.
The APC youths said any attempts to disrupt the tribunal’s activities by alleged thugs linked to Asue Ighodalo would be met with strong resistance.
They emphasized that Edo voters have already made their decision clear at the polls by voting for Governor Monday Okpebholo.
They said any attempt to wrestle power through the back door would be met with stern resistance.
A member of the youth wing of the ruling APC, Mr. Kelly Okungbowa said, “We are using this medium to call on the IGP to call the PDP candidate to order and let him know that there will be consequences for any unruly action taken. We want to appeal to him to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and to protect the tribunal’s proceedings from any unruly behavior.”
Speaking also, a youth leader of the party, Mr. Monday Irabor, stressed that the PDP should be careful so as not to disrupt the peace.
“Our democracy thrives on order and respect for judicial processes. We believe in our electoral choice and will not stand by while intimidation tactics are employed against it. We urged the PDP and its candidate to toil the path of peace in their demands and allow the court to determine their fate,” he said.
The APC youths reiterated their commitment to a peaceful and fair electoral process and their readiness to defend the democratic rights of Edo citizens.
